The New England Medieval Consortium was founded by Archibald Lewis (University of Massachusetts at Amherst) in 1974. Its annual meeting is held at a member institution in New England, usually on a Saturday in October or early November.
As of 2021, the conference rotates among three regions of New England:
- Boston/eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island [2021, 2024, etc.]
- Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont [2022, 2026, etc.]
- Connecticut and central/western Massachusetts (Worcester and west) [2023, 2027, etc.]
